Rod MacDonald currently appears solo and with the following artists.

Solo--appearing in Boston, MA area in November, New York State in December, California & Pacific NW summer 2008, throughout state of Florida all year. In south Florida, performs regularly at Shea's in Boynton Beach, the South Shores Tavern in Lake Worth, and Spider Murphy's in North Palm Beach. For dates, see Calendar.

Big Brass Bed--four-piece folk, rock and blues band playing (mostly) Bob Dylan songs plus a few of Rod's originals. The current lineup includes Rod MacDonald, guitar, harmonica and lead vocals; Bill Meredith, drums; Dave Trull, bass; and John Smotherman, lead guitar. Current bookings include 10/26 and 11/24 at the South Shores Tavern in Lake Worth, FL

Cleopatra's Noodle--high energy three-piece string band performing Rod originals plus traditional and contemporary folk songs with fiddle/mandolin instrumentals. Frequently performs theme concerts for various groups, including FAU Lifelong Learning. Next concert is January 8 at FAU Boca Raton.

"My Life In The Brill Building"--George Goehring, Nicole Yarling, Ellen Bukstel and Rod MacDonald perform songs by George Goehring and other 1950s and 1960s-era songwriters, including George's own hit compositions "Lipstick On Your Collar," "Half Heaven Half Heartache," "The Mystery of You," and numerous other top ten songs. Appearing January 13 at Palm Beach Community College in Palm Beach Gardens, and at FAU Boca Raton January 14.

Tracy Sands & Rod MacDonald--Traditional and contemporary Irish, Scottish and American music, with vocalist Tracy Sands and Rod on guitar, often with other musicians in support. Currently appearing at Dubliner Pub in Boca Raton, FL.

The Village Dudes--Frank Christian, Jack Hardy, Rod MacDonald, and David Massengill have thus far performed one concert together.

Mark Dann--New York-based bassist, guitarist, and studio recording producer with Rod since the mid-1970s; the duo recently completed their 30th European tour, accompanied by JP Bowersock on guitar.

Recording News & Downloads

Rod is recording a new cd, with a mix of old and new songs. The cd is being recorded at Mark Dann Studios in Woodstock, NY and NYC, produced by JP Bowersock, who has previously produced and played guitar with Ryan Adams, the Strokes, and other artists. The release date has not been set.

These cds are now available for downloads at iTunes and other sites: A Tale of Two Americas, No Commercial Traffic, and Big Brass Bed "A Few Dylan Songs."

All 28 Rod MacDonald songs recorded by the Fast Folk Music Magazine in the 1980s/1990s are reportedly available at emusic.com.
